Aeteon Miles, the CEO and Founder of Resurge Industries, on Company’s Missions, Visions and Why Now is the Right Time to “Go Green.”
Aeteon Miles is a US Army Veteran, former realtor, and serial entrepreneur, GPRO certified in the fundamentals of green building and construction management. He is also the Founder and CEO of Resurge Industries Inc, the parent company of WeWentGreen.com. Founded in 2016, Resurge Industries is dedicated to the mass introduction of net-positive properties and community-built and owned, renewable energy microgrids. In 2019, Resurge launched WeWentGreen.com in order to help existing homeowners make their homes more sustainable and green, by providing them with competitively priced green building and renewable energy products. In December 2020, WeWentGreen.com was revamped and relaunched, to become a true one-stop-shop for homeowners looking to Learn about going green, Shop for green products, and to Save money and their environment by going green.
Below we talk with Aeteon Miles about the inspiration behind Resurge Industries and WeWentGreen.com, their missions and visions, and why now is the right time to Go Green.
Why did you start Resurge Industries Inc?
Aeteon Miles— There are many reasons why I started Resurge Industries, but the main motivation was the rising living cost in the city of Atlanta, where I live. I was a Realtor at the time working primarily in transitioning neighborhoods. I was aware of the rapidly increasing property values in these areas and the abundance of cheap properties still available in them. But as time went by, my natural curiosity led me to research why these areas had such cheap properties in increasingly desirable areas, for the sake of time I won’t go into the details but it all centers around the concept of gentrification. Essentially, these neighborhoods lacked a large amount of the key necessities, such as healthy and ample food options, high-performing schools, usable green space, etc., needed to establish an affluent neighborhood. This along with other issues led to a higher cost of living, which combined with the low and stagnant wages for the residents led to increased poverty and the market conditions perfect for gentrification. I began researching ways to reduce a person’s cost of living and was introduced to green buildings and sustainable living. I then developed a business idea to infill existing communities with net-positive housing, connect them to existing homes and create community microgrids capable of producing low-cost, if not free, renewable energy for the residents and passive income for the community. I applied to and was accepted into several startup accelerator/incubator programs and Resurge Industries was born.
What is the mission of Resurge Industries Inc? And how do you plan to achieve that?
Aeteon Miles — The mission of Resurge is to mass introduce net-positive housing and community-built microgrids around the World. We plan on accomplishing this through education, leading by example, and unapologetic lobbying for the adoption of laws and regulations that promote and support green building and sustainable living.
What motivated you to start WeWentGreen.com?
Aeteon Miles — I was motivated to start WeWentGreen.com because of the time and effort it took me to learn about green building and sustainable living and find the products needed to accomplish those goals. I realized that if it took me this long to find what I needed to go green, others were most likely experiencing the same problems. So in the summer of 2019, I decided to build WeWentGreen.com and launched it in October that same year. The goal is to support the mission of Resurge Industries by creating a one-stop-shop for homeowners to learn about green building and sustainable living and provide them the products they need to accomplish their green goals. Essentially, WeWentGreen.com is Resurge’s public voice, as well as the educational and marketplace arm of Resurge Industries Inc.
Why now is the right time for WeWentGreen.com to exist?
Aeteon Miles — The negative effects of the current Covid-19 Pandemic is probably the biggest reason why right now is the time for WeWentGreen.com and companies like Resurge. Green building and sustainable living offer many benefits that make us more resilient to events like the Covid-19 Pandemic. Honestly, the Great Recession was a perfect time to introduce the world to WeWentGreen.com and Resurge Industries. But unlike now, there wasn’t as much pressure for our societies to go green. Now the impacts of climate change and the pandemic have only increased the need for us, as a global community, to go green and live more sustainably. When more of us begin to adopt green technologies and sustainability en masse, our lives become more resilient to life-altering events such as climate change, recessions, and pandemics.
